2024 BMW Championship purse, prize money: Payouts for second FedEx Cup Playoff event from $20M pool
The field has been reduced from 70 to 50 players, but the prize money will remain the same. $20 million will be split among participants in this week’s BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado. The winner will not only take home $3.6 million, but will also put themselves in a better position for additional money ahead of next week’s Tour Championship.
Hideki Matsuyama won the first playoff event of the season and moved into third place in the FedEx Cup standings, but it was his second-largest payday of the year; he claimed $4 million for his win at the Genesis Invitational. Scottie Scheffler has cashed the winner’s check on six different occasions on the PGA Tour and his earnings are close to $30 million this season and over $71 million in his career. In fact, with his most recent performance at the St. Jude Championship, Scheffler moved into the top five in career earnings on the PGA Tour and now trails only Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson.
The BMW Championship will follow the regular season’s signature event for the winner, but with increased prize money for those further up the leaderboard. Everyone in the top 40 of the 50-man field will cross six figures, with the top 20 winning more than $250,000.
