2024 NFL preseason injury tracker: Patriots’ Jacoby Brissett suffers shoulder injury

Unfortunately, injuries are a part of life in the NFL, and all 32 teams have faced issues during training camp and the preseason. However, some clubs have faced more serious problems. Several starters have already suffered season-ending injuries, while others’ Week 1 availability is questionable.

Below, we’ll list some of the most notable injuries around the NFL, and give you our best guess as to when a player could potentially return to the field. Not every single injured player will make this list, such as those who are “day-to-day.” But these are some of the most notable injuries to either remember, or keep an eye on as the regular-season opener approaches.

Moore, who was traded to Atlanta this offseason, suffered a knee injury earlier this month that ended his season. He walked off the practice field with an air cast on his right leg, and was taken to a local medical facility.

The Falcons’ No. 74 overall pick will miss his entire rookie season, as Trice tore his ACL in his first preseason game. It’s a big setback for the two-time First Team All-Pac-12 player, and it might have a little to do with the Falcons’ trade for Matt Judon.

Ridder suffered the injury during the Cardinals’ final preseason game and is now in injury protocol. He must be cleared by an independent neurologist before he can return to practice. Once that happens, he will resume his role as Kyler Murray’s backup.

The Cardinals’ first-round pick suffered a calf injury that is believed to be a multi-week injury after scans. It’s possible he could start the season on injured reserve. If that’s the case, the earliest he could return would be Week 5.

Milano is one of the best linebackers in the NFL, but has struggled with injuries recently. He broke his foot in Week 5 last season and now has to miss most of the year with a biceps injury. Milano will likely miss the entire 2024 season, but a late-season return is a possibility.

The Bills were hit hard by injuries in the preseason, which is why Sean McDermott won’t be starting his “Once” in the preseason finale. Free-agent pickup Curtis Samuel is considered “week to week” with turf toe. Since we’re 20 days away from Buffalo’s season opener, his status is uncertain.

Coach Canales said free-agent Dane Jackson suffered a “serious” hamstring injury, and according to ESPN, he could be out of action for up to six weeks. This is especially notable because Carolina is incredibly weak at cornerback.

The Bengals’ first-round pick suffered a pectoral muscle strain in Cincinnati’s first preseason game, and will be out “several weeks.” Mims took 16 snaps at right tackle in his only appearance. He didn’t allow a pressure on 10 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Evans will reportedly miss the entire regular season after suffering a torn patella tendon during joint practice with the Chicago Bears. According to Bleacher ReportHe was reportedly injured during a kickoff return, and was carried off the field on a cart with an air cast on his knee.

Chubb suffered a devastating knee injury last season and required two surgeries to repair his medial capsule, meniscus, MCL and ACL. While he has made incredible progress in recovery and hopes to return to play sometime in 2024, it’s impossible to know when.

Williams tore his ACL during training camp last month, and he will miss the entire 2024 season. CBS Sports’ chief NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported that he was participating in special teams drills when he suffered the injury. Although Williams has yet to start an NFL game, he has recorded 8.5 sacks in two seasons.

The versatile second-year player suffered a hamstring injury in practice this month, but Dan Campbell has said it’s not a serious issue.

Detroit’s star offensive tackle left practice Wednesday after suffering a leg injury. He was treated by trainers on the field, then limped to the bench on the sideline and then to his locker. No further updates have been given on Sewell’s condition.

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Keene, a third-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2020, suffered an ACL injury in Saturday’s preseason game, according to Bleacher Report. He was released by New England in 2020 and has since bounced around on practice squads with the Eagles, Broncos and Texans. He played in one game with Houston last season.

Downs suffered an ankle sprain earlier this month, which was good news since he was initially thought to have suffered a potentially serious injury, but ankle sprains can certainly be troublesome.

Ebukam tore his Achilles during the training camp session, and will miss the entire 2024 season. He had a career year in 2023, recording 9.5 sacks, 57 combined tackles, 17 QB hits, and three forced fumbles.

Marquise Brown could miss 4-6 weeks due to a sternoclavicular injury he suffered in Week 1 of the preseason, which led to him being hospitalized for a period of time. Andy Reid told reporters after the game that Brown suffered a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint, which is where your clavicle comes into your sternum. We don’t have a clear recovery timetable for Hollywood, but Bleacher Report reports he’ll be out for four to six weeks.

Herbert was diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury in his right foot that required him to wear a walking boot for two weeks. However, Herbert should be ready for the start of the regular season, and was spotted back on the practice field on Monday.

After tearing his Achilles on Black Friday last year, Phillips was activated from PUP just last week. I think we’d dare say he’ll play in the season opener. In just eight games played in 2023, Phillips recorded 43 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, and his first career interception.

Chubb recorded 11 sacks, a career-high 73 combined tackles, and a league-high six forced fumbles in 16 games played for Miami last year, but unfortunately tore his ACL in Week 17. Unlike Phillips, he is still on PUP.

The No. 10 overall pick threw two impressive touchdowns in his preseason debut, but complained of knee pain after the game. Tests revealed McCarthy tore his meniscus, and will likely miss his entire rookie season. The Vikings are taking a “better to be safe than to be bad” approach with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, prioritizing his long-term health.

Hockenson suffered a serious knee injury in Week 16 last year, tearing his ACL and MCL. He had to wait five weeks for the swelling to go down before undergoing surgery in late January, which pushed back his return deadline. Hockenson said in May that he There was actually no time frame set When can he come back?

Unfortunately, the Vikings suffered a major loss in their very first training camp session of the year, as Blackmon tore his ACL. Blackmon played in 15 games with three official starts in his rookie season last year, and recorded 41 combined tackles, eight passes defended, and one interception.

Brissett suffered a shoulder injury early in New England’s final preseason game. He suffered a major blow while being sacked by Commanders edge rusher KJ Henry. The Patriots rated him questionable to return, but by the time the Pats gave him that designation, he had already given way to Drake Maye, so his night is probably over. If the injury persists, Maye could start under center sooner than previously expected.

The Saints’ first-round pick left Sunday’s preseason matchup against the San Francisco 49ers midway through with a knee injury, but head coach Dennis Allen said it didn’t appear to be a serious issue. We don’t know for sure about the severity, so McKinstry qualified for this list. As for other Saints like Juwan Johnson and Talise Fuaga, they are also expected to be ready for Week 1.

Warren suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the Steelers’ final preseason loss to the Bills. According to NFL Media, the injury could keep Warren out of the field for several weeks, putting his Week 1 status in jeopardy.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Herbig has suffered a rotator cuff injury and could miss the entire 2024 season. The center suffered the injury during Pittsburgh’s final training camp practice. He could be replaced by second-round rookie pick Zach Frazier.

San Francisco 49ers

McCaffrey suffered a calf injury earlier this month, but we feel comfortable going ahead and drafting him as the No. 1 pick in fantasy since he isn’t expected to miss any time in the regular season.

Piersall has been dealing with a shoulder injury for some time, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said he will return to practice on Monday. With Brandon Aiyuk still out, Piersall could be thrust into a real role right away, even if he hasn’t been on the field much during camp.
