Angelina Jolie brushes off Brad Pitt divorce question: ‘Messy private process’
Angelina Jolie is no longer interested in talking about the former Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Recently, when Jolie, 49, was asked about her ongoing divorce with her ex-husband, 60-year-old Brad Pitt, she declined to comment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, when reporter Rebecca Keegan asked the “Maleficent” star during an interview with Jolie: “May I ask what the status of your divorce is?”, she simply replied, “No.”
Keegan further wrote that the producers of “Outsiders” drew “firm boundaries” on specific topics. Jolie shared that years ago in Hollywood, “you could have this kind of messy private process, and the work would speak. Now, the audience’s relationship is different. I’m trying to figure out what to share.”
The interview was conducted in mid-August at Jolie’s home in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles.
Jolie and Pitt, 49, have been in a contentious divorce situation since the actress filed for divorce in 2016.
The former spouses have three biological children, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. Jolie and Pitt also adopted three children: sons Maddox, 23, and Pax, 20, and daughter Zahara, 19.
Divorce settlement negotiations between Jolie and Pitt are still ongoing, eight years after their separation.
“I grew up in this city. I moved here because I had to stay here after the divorce, but once they’re 18, I’ll be able to move,” Jolie explained. “When you have a grown family, you want them to have privacy, peace and security. Now I have a home to raise my kids, but sometimes this place can be like … the humanity that I’ve found around the world isn’t here.”
Jolie also revealed where she wants to go after Los Angeles.
“I will be spending a lot of time in Cambodia,” she added. “I will be spending time visiting my family members, wherever they are in the world.”
Jolie and Pitt’s divorce and family drama continues to make headlines, as their daughter Shiloh recently filed a legal request to remove her father’s last name.
On Aug. 19, a judge signed an order legally changing the teen’s name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, according to a court ruling obtained by TMZ.
There was no formal hearing in the case, and the outlet said the plea was accepted only for Shiloh.
The dancer filed a petition to distance herself from the “Bullet Train” star on her 18th birthday, and she used her own money for a lawyer.
“Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn’t know and can’t say anything about it,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight.
Shiloh is following in the footsteps of her siblings, who have also distanced themselves from Pitt’s life in recent years.
Zahara was the first child to make the transition in November last year. She introduced herself as “Zahra Marley Jolie” during a ceremony at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Earlier this year, Vivienne was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” on the playbill for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders,” which she co-produced with Jolie.
Jolie and Pitt began dating after starring together in the 2005 action comedy “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”
The pair officially married in 2014 and split two years later in 2016. The “Eternals” actress filed for divorce after an altercation on a plane in the presence of the kids.
