Ben Affleck has no interest in fixing Jennifer Lopez’s marriage: ‘She’s given up on waiting’

She didn’t feel true love, so it had to end.

After Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from her husband Ben Affleck in Los Angeles on Tuesday, a new report alleges that she saw no evidence that he was committed to making their marriage work — and that she’s had enough.

Shortly after Lopez officially split from the “Gone Girl” actor, a source told PEOPLE that the 55-year-old singer had “given up waiting” for Affleck, 52, to give “any indication” that he wanted to make the union work.

Another source told the outlet that Lopez decided “it’s time to move on.”

“She is very disappointed and sad, but Ben has given her no indication that he wants to continue their marriage.”

“He has shown no commitment or interest in making their marriage work,” the source said. “It’s gotten to the point where he only has to think about himself.”

“She worked so hard to make things right and she is heartbroken,” another insider said. “The kids are the top priority, as they always have been.”

Affleck has three children – Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 – from his previous marriage to actress Jennifer Garner, 52. Lopez has twins Emme and Max, 16, with her ex-husband, singer Marc Anthony.

Lopez was spotted taking Affleck’s son, Samuel, shopping on Aug. 12, the same day she visited him at his rental home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles for the first time since May.

Lopez’s decision to file for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their second wedding ceremony comes at a time when the couple spent time apart over the summer, and all reports seemed to confirm that the end was near for the Hollywood couple, who caused a stir in 2021 when they rekindled their romance 18 years after ending their first engagement.

It seems the couple last saw each other on Affleck’s 52nd birthday. According to People, the star had a small celebration at home with his kids. A source revealed that Lopez “stopped by to congratulate him.” Jennifer Garner also stopped by her ex-husband’s LA rental home.

Later that night, Lopez was spotted dancing her worries away at a Bruno Mars concert to the singer’s song “Marry You.”

According to TMZ, in the divorce documents, Lopez listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024. Shortly after that date, Lopez stepped out alone to attend the Met Gala.

The couple’s divorce will likely be complicated by the lack of a prenuptial agreement, leaving a large portion of their assets at stake. According to California law, all income, profits, and assets earned by the couple during their marriage are considered common property.

When Bennifer got engaged for the second time in April 2022, Lopez couldn’t contain her joy.

“Two very lucky people. Who got a second chance at finding true love,” he wrote in his On The JLo newsletter.

She also confirmed her wedding in Las Vegas in July 2022 via her newsletter, saying she and Affleck would have “the best wedding we could have ever imagined.”

Meanwhile, Affleck has been more restrained in speaking publicly about their rekindled romance.

“One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s not wise to share everything with the world,” Affleck said in a December 2021 interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Speaking about the “healthy boundaries” he has set in his life, he explained, “I don’t want to talk about my personal relationships in the newspaper.”
