Boxing schedule for 2024: Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou, Teofimo Lopez vs. Jaime Ortiz on tap

2023 was a great year for boxing, with fans calling for almost every major fight to actually be made. The biggest of those fights that did not go together was the fight between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and IBF, WBA and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

Although that fight did not come together for 2023, it is set as the current highlight of the 2024 boxing calendar. Fury and Usyk will compete for all four heavyweight world titles on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight was originally scheduled for 17 February, but Fury suffered a fight cut just weeks before the fight, causing the bout to be delayed.

Both men enter the fight in fear in their 2023 campaigns, with Usyk being dropped by Daniel Dubois only for the referee to give the shot a low blow and give Usyk time to recover. He then stopped Dubois in round 9. Fury was forced into a very difficult situation in October, when his undefeated record was barely saved in a fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Ngannou scored knockdowns and did enough to win several rounds, although Fury ultimately won by split decision. While Fury’s title was not on the line, a loss would have been even more embarrassing than narrowly missing out on a win in a fight he was expected to dominate.

Another big fight is set for the summer in Saudi Arabia as an undisputed light heavyweight champion is crowned. Unified titleholder Artur Beterbiev will face WBA champion Dmitry Bivol on June 1, with all four titles at stake.

The next big fight on the calendar is a clash in the junior welterweight division as controversial superstar Teofimo Lopez puts his WBO title on the line against Jamaine Ortiz. In his first defense of the belt, Lopez faces a man who pushed Vasiliy Lomachenko to the brink before losing a very narrow decision.

Note: It will be constantly updated with changes and additions.
