Clara McGregor had to watch dad Ivan’s nude scenes in high school class: ‘It was uncomfortable’

Clara McGregor has recalled the “uncomfortable” time she had to watch her father Ewan McGregor’s nude scenes in her high school class.

“When I was a senior in high school I took a gender studies class,” she began during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday with her father, who covered his face with his hand.

“My teacher came to me at the end of the semester and said, ‘Listen, there’s a movie that I usually teach, it’s part of the curriculum, your dad is in it. It has some nudity in it so I would watch it before I watch it in class. Wanted to run by you.”

The 28-year-old “Birthday Cake” star said she told the teacher it was “okay” and didn’t think much about the topic.

He added, “And so we watched a movie called ‘The Pillow Book’ – which is a great movie.”

“But watching that movie with my entire high school class at 17 years old, it felt like they were watching me watch that movie, which was definitely interesting.”

Host Jimmy Kimmel asked the ‘Doctor Sleep’ actor if he would appear naked in the movie, to which he replied, ‘A lot.’

Clara said, “Completely naked, the whole time.”

Ivan, 52, shared that the teacher had also contacted him through email before showing the film in class.

“I went, ‘Look, I wouldn’t want to be the reason you don’t show it to your kids because it’s a beautiful movie,'” he recalled.

“But I said, ‘You have to guarantee that the kids are mature enough not to make fun of Clara or make her feel bad about it.'”

Although no one teased her, Clara said the whole thing was “uncomfortable.”

“I think he probably felt a little uncomfortable, too,” she admitted.

In addition to Clara, Ivan is also father to 22-year-old Esther, 22-year-old Jamian and 12-year-old Anouk, with ex-wife Eve Mavrakis, to whom he was married from 1995 to 2020.

In 2016, the “Moulin Rouge” star met his current wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead — four years before her divorce from Mavrakis — on Season 3 of “Fargo.”

Winstead, 39, and Evan played each other’s love interests on the hit FX series.

The couple married in April 2022 after welcoming son Laurie in June 2021.

Clara had previously called Winstead a “piece of trash” amid rumors that her father had cheated on her mother.

She later told The Times in August 2018 that his comments were not “the most mature way to go about things”, but that she was “angry and upset”.

“It was a lot to take in and a lot to deal with — not making excuses or anything — but, yeah, it wasn’t my finest moment,” the actress confessed.
