Cowboys’ Dalvin Cook discusses ‘different’ 2023 season, how he hopes to contribute to Dallas’ offense
The Dallas Cowboys have added veteran Dalvin Cook to their running back room just ahead of the start of the 2024 regular season. Cook, 29, made it to four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2019-22 and left the Minnesota Vikings as their No. 3 all-time leading rusher.
Cook signed with the New York Jets last offseason, but ran just 67 times for 214 yards before being released. He then signed with the Baltimore Ravens for the postseason, but wasn’t a major contributor.
“Yeah, it was different. I don’t want to say it was disappointing, I learned a lot,” Cook said of last season, via NFL.com . “For me, I always take things as a lesson, for me that’s how I take it, but no bitterness or anything. I just move on from it.”
Cook now joins a running back room led by Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle, and he knows he was brought in to support this offense, not be a bell cow.
“In my years at Minnesota it was Delvin, Delvin, Delvin, just give him the ball,” Cook said. “Now, just adjusting a little bit, helping everybody out, being productive, and that’s my mindset. I’m going to be ready to play.
“Being with Zeke, I can definitely learn a lot from him. He’s older than me. Still absorbing the game. Learning from the younger players as well. Being part of this group, I think we’ll push each other.”
