‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ earn $1.1 billion, take back box office throne from ‘Alien: Romulus’

“Deadpool & Wolverine” returned to No. 1 on Friday, completing its fourth week in theaters.
The Marvel superhero film once again topped the box office after being dethroned last week by the theatrical debut of “Alien: Romulus,” which grossed $4.8 million, according to The Numbers.
According to Collider, the film has grossed $1.154 billion worldwide, making it the eighth-highest-grossing superhero film of all time.
“Alien: Romulus” came in second with $4.5 million.
According to ScreenRant, within a week of its release, the $80 million-made sci-fi horror film has surpassed $50 million at the domestic box office.
The romantic drama “It Ends With Us,” an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel, held steady in third place with $3.825 million.
The much-loved film, which made headlines for the alleged dramatic relationship between its stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, may also get a sequel following in the footsteps of the book.
“I mean, we have that option,” Baldoni, who also directed the film, told Variety.
“I haven’t even started thinking that far ahead yet. I’m trying to stay in the present as much as I can.”
Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut, “Blink Twice,” starring her fiancé Channing Tatum, ranked fourth with nearly $2.9 million in sales.
The Post called the psychological thriller, released Friday, “a captivating, quirky private island thriller.”
The biblical drama “The Forge” took fifth place with $2.425 million in sales. It is a sequel to 2015’s “War Room,” which grossed $68 million domestically.
The film was directed by the Kendrick Brothers and was called by The Washington Times the trio’s “most complete and sophisticated work.”
