Disappointed Ben Affleck Looks Stressed Out for Movie Night with Seraphina, 15, After Jennifer Lopez Removes Her Last Name in Divorce
Will someone please investigate Ben Affleck?
“The Accountant” actor, 52, looked absolutely heartbroken during a movie night with his daughter Seraphina (15) after Jennifer Lopez requested he drop her famous last name during their divorce.
Affleck appeared tense, glued to his cellphone while taking his teen and several friends to an AMC movie theater in the upscale Marina del Rey neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, on Thursday evening. The incident came just hours after Lopez’s divorce documents revealed she no longer wanted to keep her legal name as “Jennifer Lynn Affleck” as she has taken Ben’s last name following their July 16, 2022, wedding in Las Vegas.
The “Air” star’s face showed tension, he looked serious and he failed to make conversation with the children as he walked from the parking lot to the cinema.
Affleck opted for a casual look in beige cargo pants, a gray T-shirt, and a blue button-up, which he left open. The Oscar-winning actor wore his signature Nike sneakers, holding his phone in one hand and his car keys in the other.
While Affleck looked sad, Seraphina appeared to be in a much better mood. The teen was all smiles as she chatted with friends and headed to a movie theater with her famous dad.
Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday, August 20 — the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony — because she reportedly wanted it to “hurt.”
Citing the reason for the split, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer said they had irreconcilable differences. She gave the date of the split as April 26, 2024, meaning they were no longer a couple before breakup rumors began circulating in May.
Four months ago, it was revealed that Affleck and Lopez were living separately as he moved out of their marital home and into a rented house. The two have been seen very little together this summer, missing out on celebrating important moments like Lopez’s 55th birthday and their second wedding anniversary in Sin City in July.
The “Hustlers” actress is said to be “heartbroken” and “humiliated” by the split, especially after she thought she had finally found her happy ending after several failed marriages. Lopez opened up about their breakup in 2004, claiming she felt like she was “going to die” after calling off their wedding in 2003.
Although he did sing “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”, this is probably not accurate.
Lopez did not say whether or not they had a prenuptial agreement when she filed the divorce documents; however, sources told TMZ that the ex-couple had not signed one.
If this is true, then anything Lopez and Affleck earned from their short-lived marriage could be considered community property — and they’ve been busy since becoming newlyweds.
She also has a project in the works, a film, “Unstoppable,” which will premiere next month at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Lopez stars in the film, which is produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity company.
Sources tell People that although Affleck won’t be attending the premiere, his best friend and his ex-wife will be in attendance at the red carpet event.
