Dwayne Johnson lashes out at Cody Rhodes fans on Pat McAfee show after receiving death threats against daughter Ava Raine
Dwayne Johnson attacks Cody Rhodes fans right before WrestleMania 40 press conference!
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently returned to WWE television after years away and he is set to face Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 40. However, many fans are not happy with this as they feel that Rhodes is a worthy candidate for this match.
After returning to the company at WrestleMania 38, he only had the WWE Championship on his mind. Therefore, many people wanted him to win his Mania 39 match against Reigns. However, “The Tribal Chief” held on and set the stage for a major rematch at a later stage. Therefore, viewers thought that Rhodes would ‘finish his story’ at WrestleMania 40 after winning the men’s Royal Rumble in 2024.
Dwayne Johnson leaves Cody Rhodes fans disappointed after severe reaction
Dwayne Johnson recently got a seat on the TKO board of directors after WWE’s recent partnership with Netflix, which earned the company $5 billion. In addition to the board position and $30 million worth of TKO shares, the 51-year-old also reportedly has a huge amount of creative control. Interestingly, his powers may even exceed that of WWE CCO Triple H.
Reports have also indicated that Johnson has been pushing to face Roman Reigns and is even claiming the winner for himself! Needless to say, all the chatter over The Rock’s WWE return has fans worried. Things have gotten to the point where ‘We Want Cody’ has become a huge trend on X/Twitter. Several wrestling celebrities have also publicly supported the 38-year-old.
While The Rock has been quiet for a while now, it looks like he’s finally lost it! During his most recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Johnson blasted a portion of the fan base, taking online trolling to terrifying levels.
The $800 million rich actor said, “I expected it, we expected it because it’s right there and you go back and again you like to think ‘Hey I’ve got my finger on the pulse’, we all try to keep a finger on the pulse, eventually. What the fans want and what they’re saying and a lot of times, sports, entertainment, anywhere, there’s a wave of noise that comes right out of the gate, that you just want to stop for a second, let’s not hurry up Don’t take decisions, let’s wait and see how it all shakes out and see what happens from there, so it’s just a matter of waiting.”
He continued, “…not surprised by this, expected it but here’s the fun part, love Cody, love his passionate fans, then there are other passionate Cody fans and they are called ‘Cody crybabies’, these big ass The guy’s like, ‘Cody’s got to finish his story’, it’s like… wait a second, ‘Hey Dad, you wanna go out and play catch with me?! Not right now, Cody’s got to finish his story. Gotta finish and I’m worried, wife comes ‘Hey honey, you want to go have sex,’ ‘Not yet, Cody’s got to finish his story!'”. (Via H/T Wrestle Ops)
While it may seem like The Rock is overreacting, there is some context behind the disappointment. Recently, the ‘Jumanji’ actor’s eldest daughter Ava Raine aka Simone Johnson had to deactivate her X/Twitter account after receiving severe backlash for her father’s participation in the WWE title picture.
However, Ava, who is the youngest General Manager in NXT history, had nothing to do with the booking on the main roster and fans definitely crossed a line by abusing her. So, it’s understandable why Johnson is quite disappointed with fans. What are your thoughts on the comments? Let us know in the comments below.
