‘DWTS’ pro arrested on domestic violence charges after celebrating wedding anniversary
“Dancing With the Stars” pro Artem Chigvintsev has been arrested on charges of domestic assault.
The professional dancer was charged in Napa County, California on Thursday morning.
The Post can confirm that Napa County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested him just before 10 a.m. on a domestic violence charge. His bail has been set at $25,000. According to online records, it appears he is still in lockup. The booking report lists him as weighing 175 pounds and standing 5’9″.
Chigvintsev was charged under California Penal Code Section 273.5(a) PC, which “makes it illegal to inflict injury on a spouse, cohabitant or fellow parent as part of a domestic violence offense. This offense is also known as domestic abuse, domestic violence or inflicting corporal injury on a spouse.”
Chigvintsev is married to TV personality and former WWE Diva Nikki Garcia, formerly known professionally as Nikki Bella.
The couple lives in Napa and will feature their $1.5 million wine country estate on MTV Cribs in 2023
News of Chigvintsev’s arrest comes a month after previous charges were filed against him.
English TV presenter Fern Britton, who competed in the 2012 season of “Strictly Come Dancing,” the British version of “DWTS” that launched the global franchise, spoke out about verbal abuse directed toward her by Chigvintsev.
In a 2015 interview with the Times, he said, “He said, ‘Shut your mouth. I’ll kill you or else go home.'”
“I used to say, ‘Oh please kill me, that would be easier.’ Or what was his other suggestion? ‘If you go have a cup of tea now, I’ll blow up like an atomic bomb.’ I thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to correct him on this.'”
The Post has contacted representatives for Chigvintsev and Garcia.
