Edward Enninful made sure the star-studded Vogue shoot ‘ran smoothly’ so Gigi Hadid could get home ‘on time’ for daughter Khai.
Edward Enninful, editor-in-chief of British Vogue, ran a very time-limited set to accommodate Gigi Hadid’s parenting schedule while shooting the magazine’s March cover, which included 40 “icons.”
In the magazine’s editor’s note he recalled that monumental – and perfectly organized – shoot day, “when at 8 a.m. models, film icons, musicians, moguls, sports legends and media stars started arriving.”
“Mother and daughter Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford carpool. …Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus kept screaming out of the skin of their popstar schedules,” he continued. “And everyone made sure things ran smoothly so that Gigi Hadid could get her baby home on time.”
Hadid is the mother of daughter Khai, whom she welcomed with her then-partner Zayn Malik in 2020.
The 28-year-old previously told Net-a-Porter that she is “intentional” about her work due to her duties as a mother.
“When my daughter is with her father, I work and that’s all the time I have,” she said. “And the jobs I choose to fill at that time should be ones that are gratifying to me.”
On the cover of British Vogue, Hadid was joined by many of her fellow supermodels, including Cara Delevingne, Irina Shayk, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Iman, Amber Valletta, and Christy Turlington.
She was joined by several other A-listers, including Ariana DeBose, Anya Taylor-Joy, Victoria Beckham, Jane Fonda, Oprah, Salma Hayek, Selma Blair, Laverne Cox and Serena Williams.

Enninful said in his farewell essay of the shooting, “It was truly epic.” “Putting together the 40 busiest women in the world [Steven] Meisel’s lens is no mean feat, and with a video crew down below ready to interview every single one of them, it was the greatest set piece of my career.
“Everyone was in the highest spirits, and it was fun to see even the most worldly stars’ jaws drop to the floor at a never-before-seen gathering.”
He said he wanted the cover shoot to honor women and “celebrate teamwork and togetherness” in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Enninful announced in June 2023 that he would step down from the role of editor-in-chief of the magazine and take on the role of editorial and global advisor.
Chioma Nnadi is stepping down as head of editorial content. She will be the first black woman to lead the highly prestigious fashion magazine.
