Exclusive | Jane Tran gives advice to new ‘Golden Bachelorette’ Joan Vasos: ‘Stay off the Internet!’
Jane Tran has some advice for Joan Vasos ahead of Wednesday’s premiere of “Golden Bachelorette.”
“I will [tell her] “You know yourself better than anybody — and even your family and friends,” the reality star exclusively told Page Six’s Desiree Murphy following her debut on “Dancing With the Stars” Tuesday night.
“Just lean on your friends and family. That’s what I did, and that’s what helped me get through this.”
Tran, who starred as a main character on Season 21 of “The Bachelorette,” also advised Vasos to stay off social media while his episodes were airing.
The 26-year-old laughed and said: “The internet can be difficult sometimes, and all I would say is stay off it as much as possible!”
Tran, 26, joined the reality dance competition shortly after her season of the ABC franchise ended in heartbreak when her ex-fiancé Devin Strader broke off their engagement over the phone.
However, the former reality TV star — who performed a touching dance to Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” during Tuesday’s premiere — says joining “DWTS” after such a “public breakup” was empowering for her.
“I’ve been through heartbreak before, and after every heartbreak, it’s important to re-energize yourself. Realize that you can be independent and you can buy yourself flowers … and do all the things that you want a man to do.”
The judges gave Tran, who is paired with Sasha Farber, a combined score of 19/30 for their lively cha-cha.
Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend and former “Bachelor” castmate Joey Graziadei is also competing on Season 33, which began Tuesday night.
He and his partner Jenna Johnson stunned the audience and judges with their amazing performance of Tyler Hubbard’s song “Dancin’ in the Country.” The couple got 21/30 points for their Cha Cha.
Graziadei, who is engaged to Kelsey Anderson, told Page Six on the red carpet after the show that despite the history between them, he and Tran have had a “friendly relationship” behind the scenes.
“It’s been great. It’s been friendly, I wouldn’t even call it competition,” the 29-year-old said.
He added, “I think the best part of this show is that everyone supports each other. Like, we know it’s very difficult, so out of everyone’s comfort zone. So we’re just trying to support each other and make sure everyone does their best.”
While Graziadei is cheering on his fellow contestants, he’s also cheering on Vasos, 61, as she prepares to take on Bachelor Nation.
“I don’t think I can give Joan any advice. She’s certainly an amazing woman,” he told us. “She’s lived a full life and done a lot of amazing things herself.”
While “Bachelor” contestants in general are still “figuring out things about themselves,” the former tennis coach says he loves seeing the older generation who are “very confident” and “know who they are.”
“They’re a really cool part of it and I can’t wait to see it,” he said.
Twenty-four men — all over the age of 60 — will compete for Vasos’ love on “The Golden Bachelorette,” which premieres Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. In the meantime, fans can watch Graziadei and Tran compete on “Dancing With the Stars,” which airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
