Exclusive | Jax Taylor ‘100 percent’ in favor of Brittany Cartwright filing for divorce: ‘Vicious cycle’ needs to stop
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are on the same page about ending their marriage.
“Jax is 100 percent ready to move forward with the divorce,” a source told Page Six exclusively on Wednesday.
“He has been out of the marriage for a long time. He simply wants an amicable co-parenting relationship.”
Cartwright, 35, filed for divorce from Taylor, 45, on Tuesday after five years of marriage. In court documents obtained by Page Six, they cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
Our insider says that while the end of their marriage “was obviously painful for both of them because neither of them had imagined this for themselves,” it was “clear they were not a good match for each other.”
“Their vicious cycle needed to stop for the sake of their son,” the source added.
Cartwright also noted in court documents that she wants sole legal and physical custody of her and Taylor’s 3-year-old son, Cruz, but that she is willing to give the “Vanderpump Rules” alumnus visitation rights.
We’re told the “Valley” star has kept her distance from her estranged husband during their separation.
Cartwright moved out of the marital home early in their separation, which she first confirmed in February, and hasn’t seen her ex-husband recently, despite him claiming he’s trying to work on himself.
Taylor entered a mental health facility in July, with his rep telling Us at the time, “Jax has always been open about his mental health struggles, especially over the last few months on his podcast.
“He has decided to be admitted to hospital and receive treatment. This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family.”
We learn that Taylor, whose real name is Jason Cauchi, has come out of treatment but Cartwright is still protecting his peace.
A source exclusively told Page Six that, “Britney hasn’t seen Jax since he got out of treatment,” adding that “she plans on sending him to meet Cruise.”
Cartwright was very vocal about the issues in her marriage before filing for divorce.
He details a fierce fight on the season finale of “The Valley” that forced him to call it quits.
“He would go to bars and do stuff, come home and have a terrible hangover, which made him like an evil snake,” the reality star told his co-stars in the episode, which aired in June.
“Finally, after he yelled at me for hours… I packed up mine and Cruz’s stuff and we moved out of that house. I just got to this point where I started to notice everything he did to me.”
Cartwright also opened up about the fact that the couple rarely had sex in the last year of their marriage.
Additionally, the mother of one claimed to People in April that she “basically” did “everything” for the family, including being the primary caregiver to their son.
Since declaring her independence, Cartwright has said on social media that she has got her “sparkle back” and has been enjoying a night out with a good friend, co-star Jack Wickham.
The Bravo star was also spotted ordering alcohol at her home ahead of her fun outing.
A source tells PEOPLE that Cartwright didn’t take her decision to file the suit “lightly,” but that she “remains adamant that it was the right decision.”
Meanwhile, Taylor has already hit the social scene. She was spotted at Craig’s in West Hollywood, California on Tuesday for a night out with her co-star Jesse Lali.
Representatives for the former couple did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
