Exclusive | Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will not reunite at the TIFF premiere of their upcoming film
Don’t expect any awkward encounters on the red carpet for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
The couple may be ending their marriage, but they’re still in business together after Affleck produced Lopez’s next movie, “Unstoppable.”
Page Six has learned that the divorcing couple will skip any red carpet reunion at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, where their project debuts in two weeks.
The film, produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Artists Equity, features Lopez in a supporting role.
A source tells Us that Lopez will attend the Canadian Film Festival for the movie’s premiere on Sept. 6, while Affleck will not be making an appearance.
Either way, while Lopez, 55, was promoting the film, reporters were likely to ask her about the couple’s split.
The star previously dodged a question about his marital status during a panel in Mexico City for his last film, “Atlas,” in May.
“You know better than that,” he said with a brief smile, according to a video he posted on Instagram during his press tour for the Netflix film.
“Unstoppable” — based on the inspiring real-life story of one-legged champion wrestler Anthony Robles — is directed by William Goldenberg, the editor of Affleck’s 2012 hit “Argo” and his 2023 film “Air.”
Lopez plays Robles’ mother in the film, which also stars Jharrel Jerome, Michael Pena and Don Cheadle.
According to the Daily Mail, some of the film’s producers are “pressuring the two to appear together at the Toronto premiere to create buzz about the film.”
But we have heard that this is not happening.
Vanity Fair recently wrote about Lopez getting the role in the film, “It didn’t hurt that Lopez is married to Affleck, though Goldenberg says that had little to do with her casting.”
The director said, “She was someone who had lived her life to the fullest, and I felt Jennifer was one of the few actresses who could play that role.”
“I think she was the right one for it, and it was also a coincidence that she ended up marrying the person we always wanted her to be.”
This isn’t the former couple’s only upcoming Hollywood project: Lopez recently finished shooting “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” which Affleck and Damon also produced for Artists Equity.
Lopez stars in the project, based on the 1993 Broadway musical, and also executive produces.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on their second wedding anniversary, Aug. 20. The official separation date on the papers is April 26.
According to a report from TMZ, the couple has no pre-nup agreement in place.
