‘Game of Thrones’ alum Maisie Williams details tough effort to lose 25 pounds for new role
Maisie Williams reveals the mentally and physically difficult transformation she went through to play Christian Dior’s younger sister in a new TV series.
The “Game of Thrones” alum, who shaved her head and lost 25 pounds to play Catherine Dyer in “The New Look,” said in a new interview that she used to have so many nightmares that it was “almost It was like sleep paralysis.
“I was eating very little, meditating all the time, burning candles and incense in my apartment,” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK in an interview published Tuesday.
While a team of medical professionals monitored her significant weight loss, Williams, 26, explained that most of the loss occurred when she shed fluids right before filming.
“I had to get up at 4 in the morning to sweat. The night before, around 7 or 8 o’clock I was allowed to have something salty and dehydrated – some smoked salmon and a small glass of wine,” she recalls.
“Then I took a boiling-hot bath with lots of salt. And I laid down in bed and slept for maybe three hours, and got up and ate a handful of nuts.
The Emmy nominee said the process of transforming into the emaciated Katherine took such a toll on her body that she couldn’t sleep through the night.
“I kept waking up and feeling like a marble rattling inside a bottle,” she said, adding that her nightmares were often related to the character she was portraying, a World War II French resistance fighter. Was.
He added, “There was a lot of feeling restricted, almost sleep paralysis, dreams of being trapped and attacked and terrifying visions of men in uniform.”

The 10-part Apple TV+ series, based on the book “Miss Dior: A Story of Courage and Couture,” focuses on fashion designers Coco Chanel and Christian Dior as they journey through World War II.
