How many NBA All-Star Game appearances has Jimmy Butler made?
No matter what people think, Jimmy Butler is an accomplished artist. Since joining the Miami Heat, Butler has been one of the league’s top players. He has led the team to four consecutive playoff appearances since 2019. Out of these contests, he also helped the Heat achieve two NBA Finals runs. However, they were never able to go that far and win a championship.
Since being recruited by the NBA in 2011, Butler has performed for four franchises, namely the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat. In 2015, he was named Most Improved Player and in 2021, he led the league in steals. Butler has also earned multiple All-NBA selections since 2014. For him, the game of basketball has always been about more than earning personal recognition.
Jimmy Butler is a 6x NBA All-Star
Jimmy Butler has been selected as an All-Star six times during his 13-year journey. Amazingly, he earned his first four picks when he was not with the Heat. In 2015, he averaged 20 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game, earning his first selection while making a strong case for the MIP award. He was named to the All-Defense Second Team and ranked 12th in DPOY votes.
Butler earned his second and third All-Star selections in 2016 and 2017. He played for the Bulls during this time. However, in 2017, he signed with the Timberwolves. During the 2017–18 season, Butler was named an All-Star for the fourth time. He finished 10th in MVP voting during his first season with the Wolves, averaging 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2 steals per game.
His fifth selection came during his first season with the Heat in 2020. He averaged 19.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Butler also finished 11th in MVP votes. Despite having a career year defensively, he was not selected as an All-Star in 2021. But he managed to make it in 2022.
Why was Jimmy Butler not selected for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game?
Compared to his performances over the past few seasons, Jimmy Butler looks like a mere fluke of his own. Generally speaking, Butler has never been a big performer in the regular season. But during the playoffs they have always performed better and maintained their dominance.
“I think everyone knows I don’t care about being an All-Star, I don’t care about being All-NBA. I do not care about this. I just want to win, I mean it. I am who I am, man.”
