GTA 6 and leaks have now become an inseparable affair. GTA 6 leaks have continued to hit the internet since the game’s launch was announced two years ago in February 2022. From characters to gameplay and features, the leak had a lot to share about the upcoming game.

The community of leakers was so active that when Rockstar Games finally decided and announced the launch of the first trailer of the game, the trailer was also leaked. Rockstar Games had announced that they will officially release the GTA 6 trailer on December 5, 2023 at 9am ET. However, the trailer was leaked less than 24 hours earlier, thus forcing the developers to launch the trailer ahead of schedule.

Earlier, Rockstar had revealed that many details of GTA 6 were leaked in an earlier ransomware attack by an 18-year-old hacker, which cost them $5 million. One can only imagine how disappointing this leak must have been for the developers.

Did GTA 6 Trailer Leak Affect Rockstar Games?

During the recent earnings report of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, CEO Strauss Zelnick publicly revealed his thoughts about the leak for the first time. Zelnick said the entire team was very excited when the trailer was released, but the leak was disappointing.

He said, “In terms of leaks, it’s always disappointing for the team, but ultimately, I don’t think it hurts us.Although the CEO seems very relaxed about this matter now, the team was not so relaxed when this incident happened.

In December 2023, several GTA 6 developers expressed their disappointment about the leak. He stressed that it was the result of many years of work, and the leak deprived them of properly celebrating this important moment. Nonetheless, he was proud of the response he received afterward.

Likewise, it’s fair for the CEO to now say that he suffered no losses considering how successful the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was. GTA 6 Trailer 1 set records by becoming the most viewed video game trailer on YouTube in its first 24 hours, as well as the most viewed non-music video.

GTA 6 to release early 2025?

In other news, during the same earnings call, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that GTA 6 was very much on track for its fiscal year 2025 release, i.e. between April 2024 and March 2025. Furthermore, the developers have also confirmed with the trailer that the game will release in 2025.

Thus fans are speculating that the game will release sometime in the first three months of 2025. That being said, the exact release date of Rockstar’s next big game has not been revealed yet.

Players are advised to wait for official confirmation from Take-Two and Rockstar regarding the exact release date and hope that the game is not delayed.
