Jack Bryan apologizes for drunkenly tweeting that Kanye West is better than Taylor Swift
ZAKE Bryan has apologised to Taylor Swift fans after he drunkenly wrote on his now-deleted ex’s account that Kanye West makes better music than the pop superstar.
“For the record guys, I was not coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong,” the country singer wrote on his Instagram Story Thursday morning alongside a screenshot of Swift’s song “Fortnite” featuring Post Malone from his “Tortured Poets Department” album.
“I know there’s a lot of stuff going on around yeh and I was speaking purely about the music,” he said, referring to West’s past anti-Semitic comments.
Bryan, 28, reassured his followers, “I love Taylor’s music and I pray you guys know that I’m human too and sometimes tweet stupid things. Hopefully one day I can explain that to her.”
The “Something in the Orange” singer, who has a history of deactivating his social media accounts, admitted that his ex’s posts “get him in too much trouble,” so he’s decided to “stay away” from the app.
“I’m sorry to all the Taylor fans I’ve offended or disappointed,” he said. “I love you guys and I’m doing my best!”
In another message, Bryan explained that he’s “going through a tough time” and was “showing off a little bit,” but that he now realizes his post was “rude” to Swift, whom he “respects so much as a musician.”
“The last thing I want is for people to think I don’t appreciate and love what they do for music,” he wrote, before urging fans to “not drink and tweet.”
The “I Remember Everything” singer praised Swift, 34, calling her a “force of nature” and reiterated that he holds “no ill will or meanness” towards the “Cruel Summer” singer.
Bryan’s decision to admit his mistake came after he shared a post on X late Tuesday night that read, “Eagles > Chiefs Kanye > Taylor who’s with me,” which some Swifties also saw as a dig at Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelsey, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The “Pink Skies” singer faced intense backlash from Swift’s fans, which forced him to close his account.
One user later joked, “He knew not to mess with Swifties.”
