Jason Kelsey denies being drunk after dancing wildly and throwing beer into crowd on ‘Monday Night Football’
Jason Kelsey denied being drunk after dancing wildly and throwing beer into the crowd before a Philadelphia Eagles game on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”
“Well, I can tell you, [when] You were talking in the booth in the third quarter that you had been on a roller coaster of ups and downs from drunkenness since noon,” Travis Kelsey told his brother on the “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday, two days after the retired athlete attended his former team’s home game.
Jason, 36, immediately cut off Travis, 34, saying he “hasn’t had a single beer” and then laughed about him throwing cans at attendees during the pregame ceremony.
The former Eagles center said he probably threw about 100 beers at fans, but “didn’t drink a single one.”
“Do you have any idea how hard that was?” he asked, adding, “I’m a professional, Travis. I don’t mess around.”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end slammed his older brother for throwing “a whole beer” at people, saying it was “dangerous” and “it could even lead to an assault.”
However, Jason defended himself, saying he was making “eye contact” with attendees to ensure they grabbed the drinks and that he used coozies to soften the cans.
Travis laughingly called his brother an “idiot” and then talked about Jason’s “new” dance moves, which went viral on social media earlier this week.
“It wasn’t my best race,” Jason admitted when the “Catching Kelsey” alumnus started laughing.
“What happened was we were supposed to be on that stage to start the countdown, but I got there really early,” Jason said.
“I had 30 minutes to get in before the show started, and I was standing there with these DJs. I was thinking, ‘I’ve got to do something.'”
Jason said he had no idea what he was doing and was shocked when he saw how the internet reacted.
He asked, “Do you know how devastating it is to open X and see people quote tweeting your dancing and putting clown emojis on you?”
But Travis said amid laughter that he was “very proud.”
“Everybody thinks I’m a dancer. Man, you’re the best dancer I’ve ever met in my life,” he said. “You can put a smile on anybody’s face by dancing. It’s great. And when you get in that mode, when you dance with all your might, oh my God, thank you for that. … I’ll always have that. I’ll keep it in my pocket, whether it’s cloudy or not.”
Travis also acknowledged how his teammate Patrick Mahomes made fun of Jason’s antics on social media on Monday.
“Pat has watched these dance moves up close,” Jason said, to which Travis joked, “That’s why ESPN hired you. … Nobody else can replicate these moves.”
This was Jason’s first time attending an Eagles game since retiring from his 13-season professional football career in March.
