Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce judge has a strange connection to her ex-husband Alex Rodriguez

The judge hearing Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s divorce has a connection to her future husband and former fiancé, Alex Rodriguez.

Judge Bradley S. Phillips is assigned to Bennifer’s high-profile divorce case, and that’s where things could get complicated. Phillips’ son-in-law, Strand Conover, is Affleck and A-Rod’s agent.

Conover is a partner and agent at WME, a major talent agency with a roster of Oscar-winning actors and retired Yankees. But that’s not all.

He’s also on the team representing Affleck. Despite this shocking connection and Judge Phillips’ admission that his son-in-law also knows J.Lo, he insists there’s no conflict of interest in their divorce, according to new court documents obtained by TMZ.

Conover not only knows Lopez through Affleck, but he met her when she was dating and later engaged to A-Rod.

Judge Phillips revealed that his son-in-law is the former ball player’s brand-partnership agent at WME, adding that Conover also met Lopez through business dealings with A-Rod.

Though his family member has ties to Affleck and Rodriguez, he does not represent the “Let’s Get Loud” singer.

Despite this bizarre connection, Judge Phillips insisted that his son-in-law’s relationship with the “Argo” director is not an issue. In the paperwork, he vowed he would be fair and impartial in Bennifer’s divorce case.

Remember, while Lopez didn’t reveal whether or not she signed a prenuptial agreement before saying “I do,” insiders claimed she did not. Without a prenuptial agreement, all of their earnings, benefits, and assets they acquired during their marriage could have been considered community property, and Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, were busy being newlyweds.

The judge also revealed that he has not discussed the case or Lopez and Affleck’s separation with his son-in-law, and that he has promised not to reveal any details about the ongoing divorce.

For Judge Phillips, his son-in-law’s ties to Affleck, Lopez and his ex-fiancée are not an issue.

The “Hustlers” actress filed for divorce from Affleck on Tuesday, Aug. 20 — the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony — because she reportedly wanted it to be “painful.”

Explaining the reason for the separation, the singer said that they had irreconcilable differences. She gave the date of separation as April 26, 2024, which means they were no longer a couple even before breakup rumors began circulating in May.

Sources told People that the “Good Will Hunting” star’s “erratic mood swings” and “toxicity” were the cause of contention in their relationship.

An insider explained that Lopez “spends a lot of time making sure Ben is happy and has everything he needs.”

“It was almost childlike in the way she took care of him,” the source said. “Friends constantly reminded him that he wasn’t responsible for his feelings. He was very moody and sad sometimes. Jennifer appreciates life in a different way. She’s very grateful for everything.”

This was believed to be Lopez and Affleck’s second love endeavor after they broke off their engagement two decades ago.

The pair began dating in 2002 after meeting on the set of their blockbuster film “Gigli.” They were engaged to be married in 2003 but called off the wedding just days before the ceremony. Lopez and Affleck announced their breakup in January 2004.

Lopez revealed she felt like she was “going to die” after their 2003 wedding was annulled and vowed they would do better the second time around.

Before rekindling her romance with Affleck in 2021, the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer was linked to A-Rod.

Lopez’s name was first linked to the former MLB player in 2017. They announced their engagement in 2019 and in April 2021, they called off their wedding plans.

“We have realized we are better off as friends and look forward to remaining so,” Lopez and A-Rod said in a joint statement at the time. “We will continue to work closely together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and each other’s children.”

A few days after her breakup with A-Rod, Affleck was spotted at Lopez’s Los Angeles home, and the rest is history.
