Jennifer Lopez reportedly relieved after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck: ‘It was almost like torture’

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly “relieved” after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck, though she doesn’t want to end their two-year marriage.

“It has been very hard for her that Ben decided to walk away from their marriage and leave her behind and move on with his life,” a source told People Monday.

“She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer isn’t someone who just gives up. Waiting has been almost torture for her.”

The source added that the “On the Floor” singer is “feeling relieved” after filing divorce papers in Los Angeles last week.

“Her family and friends agree this was the right decision,” the source added, adding that J.Lo is “surrounded by so much love and support” and “will be just fine” because “she is strong and always on top.”

Lopez, 55, has not been seen in public since officially breaking up with Affleck, 52, on the second anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia.

The singer filed for divorce without the help of a lawyer and listed the date of separation as April 26.

Meanwhile, Affleck was photographed in Los Angeles looking very happy as he picked up a Jack in the Box order from a delivery driver at his rental home in Brentwood, California, on Saturday.

That same day, a source told Page Six that the “Argo” star has been spending time with Kick Kennedy.

We’re told Affleck and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 36-year-old daughter were spotted hanging out at the Beverly Hills Hotel Polo Lounge and other L.A. hotspots.

Affleck also appeared to be in good spirits while dining at Italian restaurant Toscana Sunday with his close friend Matt Damon and the “Bourne Ultimatum” star’s wife Luciana, according to photos obtained by TMZ.

According to “Entertainment Tonight,” the actor has been speaking his mind to his “Good Will Hunting” co-star during his split from Lopez.

Sources previously told Page Six that Affleck’s dislike of his ex-wife’s public lifestyle was difficult for him.

He said the former couple’s marital issues began during their honeymoon in August 2022, when paparazzi followed them around Lake Como in Italy.

“He was unhappy about the paparazzi following him,” an insider told us. “He’s an international superstar, and he behaved as if it was a surprise to him that he was being followed.”

Lopez and Affleck tried their hand at love for a second time in 2021 after calling off their engagement in the early 2000s.

Sources recently told Page Six that their split left the “Marry Me” star “humiliated” after he “took the initiative to get back together.”

Lopez also based her 2024 Amazon Prime documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” on her relationship with Affleck.

The “Gigli” co-stars eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022, a month before hosting their Georgia wedding ceremony.
