Jennifer Lopez reveals the reason she divorced Ben Affleck after two years of marriage

Jennifer Lopez has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for her split from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage.
The “Marry Me” singer, 55, officially filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, on Aug. 20, which coincidentally was the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony.
According to the Daily Mail, this choice was deliberate on the part of the musician.
An insider told the publication, “Jennifer said she was tired of being disrespected by Ben and she waited until the two-year anniversary because she wanted it to sting.”
“But it didn’t hurt her,” the insider claimed. “He’s been doing this for a long time and deep down she knows that. She let him do it so she doesn’t look like a villain.”
Another source told US Weekly: “The timing of the divorce was a huge shock to Ben.”
In court documents, Lopez also listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024, and waived her right to spousal support, asking the judge to deny Affleck any support. She also requested that Affleck be removed from her last name.
According to TMZ sources, there was no pre-nup between the estranged couple.
Lopez was in New York on the day of the split as she prepares to co-host the 2024 Met Gala. Split rumors began when she attended the annual fashion event and walked the red carpet alone without the Oscar winner on May 6.
Affleck later moved out of his $60 million marital mansion and into a rental home. The “Argo” actor has since purchased a $20.5 million home and has put the adjacent property on the market.
Additionally, Lopez and Affleck did not celebrate her 55th birthday or their second wedding anniversary together in July. She was spotted at his rented home on his 52nd birthday last week, but she later danced to Bruno Mars’ song “Marry Me” without him at the musician’s concert.
The pair first got together in 2002, but ended their first engagement in 2004. Two decades later, they rekindled their romance and tied the knot at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in July 2022. They held a second, more lavish wedding at Affleck’s home in Riceboro, Georgia on August 20, 2022.
“We’re older now, we’re wiser, we have more experience, we’re in different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of these things,” Lopez told PEOPLE about their second attempt at love. “It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate each other and celebrate each other and respect each other. We’ve always done that, but we have even more appreciation because we know life can take you in different directions.”
According to Page Six, cracks in Bennifer’s relationship began to appear during their honeymoon in Italy.
Affleck shares children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with his first ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52, from whom he split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage. Lopez is mom to twins Emme and Max, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
