Johnny and Matthew Goudreau’s sister Katie mourns ‘best big brothers’ after they cancel their wedding

Katie Goudreau, the sister of Johnny and Matthew Goudreau, has paid an emotional tribute to her late brothers four days after their tragic deaths forced them to cancel their wedding.

“Knowing these two was like loving these two,” Katy wrote in a sentimental caption on Instagram on Monday.

“I have absolutely no words to describe the bond my family had. The whole world knows there would never have been John without Mattie and there would never have been Mattie without John. The best big brother a little girl could ever ask for.”

Katie added that she doesn’t see her post as a “goodbye” as she “never wants to stop saying” Jonny and Matthew’s names.

“I will take the best care of your kids, Mom, Dad, Kristen, Mer and Madeline,” she said, referring to the hockey players’ parents, second sisters, wives and children.

Along with the message, Kristen included a slideshow of photos of the siblings from over the years.

Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were killed by a suspected drunk driver on Thursday while they were biking in their home state of New Jersey.

Motorist Sean M. Higgins was jailed and charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter after he reportedly admitted to drinking five or six beers prior to the incident.

Johnny and Matthew were scheduled to serve as groomsmen at Katie’s wedding on Friday, but Page Six confirmed that she and her fiancĂ©, Devin Joyce, have decided to cancel the ceremony in the wake of the fatal accident.

Johnny, who played in the NHL for the Columbus Blue Jackets, is survived by his wife Meredith Gaudreau and two children, 1-year-old daughter Noah and 6-month-old son Johnny Jr.

Meanwhile, Matthew was expecting his first child with his wife Madeline Goudreau when he died.

A GoFundMe page to help Madeline and her unborn son, Tripp, has already raised over $500,000.
