Lady Gaga gets a new puppy 3 years after dog theft incident
Lady Gaga has got a new puppy, three years after a dog-theft incident.
The 38-year-old singer and actress was rocked in February 2021 when her dog-walking friend was shot and seriously injured, while her two French bulldogs — Koji and Gustav — were stolen in a roadblock on Sierra Bonita Avenue in Hollywood.
She showed off her new pet in a TikTok video on Thursday, in which she lip-synced to her and Bruno Mars’ duet, “Die With a Smile,” while the clip was shot of her holding a black French bulldog in her lap.
Gaga said in the footage: “If the world was ending, I would want to be next to you.” Despite showing off the new member of her home, she did not reveal the dog’s name.
After the artist’s dogs were seized, a woman safely handed them over to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Olympic Community Police Station two days after the incident.
In April 2021, five suspects were arrested in connection with the shootout and robbery.
One of the suspects, James Howard Jackson, pleaded no contest to charges of attempted murder and causing serious bodily injury, and was sentenced to 21 years in prison as part of a plea agreement.
Ryan Fischer, 35, who walked Gaga’s injured dog, told “CBS Mornings” months after the attack that he was in “extreme pain” after the assault.
He said: “I was scared, I was in pain. I felt like when they came at me [and] They had a gun pointed at me and said I was going to get shot, because in my mind I was like, ‘There’s no way I’m not going to fight for these dogs.’”
Fisher said of the pop star: “She’s helped me so much. She’s been my friend and when I was attacked – my family was flown out and trauma therapists were called in for me and I stayed at her house for months while friends consoled me and I had security guards around me.”
