Lala Kent details scary moment newborn daughter Sosa ‘turned purple’ after birth: ‘This is not normal’

Although Lala Kent’s second pregnancy went “perfect,” her early labor and the birth of her daughter, Sosa, led to some scary complications.

The “Vanderpump Rules” star — who welcomed a baby girl earlier this month with the help of a sperm donor — shared details about the birth experience on her “Give Them Lala” podcast on Wednesday.

“During my second-to-last push, [my obstetrician] He stands up really quickly and his focus stays on the monitor,” she explained.

“And he’s making eye contact with the nurse who’s reading something to him that I obviously don’t understand because I’m not a doctor. And he looks nervous.”

Kent, 34, said she asked if everything was OK, to which her doctor replied, “Yes, I want you to keep applying pressure.”

it turns out that ” [umbilical] the rope was wrapped around [Sosa’s] stabbed him in the neck a couple of times,” but Kent’s doctor “stayed calm” and “didn’t let him do it” [her] I know that.”

“She comes out, they put her on my chest and I go to hug her — you know, hug your baby — but the way the nurse is handling the baby … and she’s not crying. She cries once and then she stops,” Kent recalled.

“And my hands are freezing, so I’m like, ‘I’m not going to touch him because I don’t want to send him into shock.'”

The Bravolebrity said the nurses began “rubbing her chest” and “sucking things out of her mouth.”

“For the mom, it was a great thing that she came out so quickly because I didn’t have to push very often, but with such a fast birth, she swallowed a lot of amnionic fluid,” Kent told her listeners, adding that her newborn “had so much fluid that she vomited up all the food.”

Kent recalled the moment her daughter “turned purple”, which “panicked” the nurse accompanying them, who then called for help.

“Then they bring in a specialist, and say, ‘We want a surgeon to look at her’ because this isn’t normal, and we first took out 10 milliliters of amnionic fluid from her belly, then we took out another eight, then we took out how many more milliliters,” the Give Them Lala Beauty founder explained.

“And they say, ‘And now we’re draining it through the nose, and it won’t stop.’ And they said, ‘Either we’re going to fix it with pediatric surgery, or we’re going to have to put him in the NICU.’”

Kent remembered that he was “near [her]to myself” and asking, “What the fuck?”

When asked about her pregnancy with Sosa, Kent replied, “It was perfect.”

However, she soon “began to feel guilty,” wondering what she did during her pregnancy that she didn’t do during her first child, daughter Ocean, 3, whom she shares with her ex-fiancé Randall Emmett.

“I started crying, and they were like, ‘You didn’t do anything wrong with the pregnancy; we’re just a little confused,'” Kent said, adding that Sosa eventually “recovered.”
