Liam and Noel Gallagher confirm reunion with Oasis after 15 years apart: ‘It’s happening’
British rock band Oasis is finally reuniting after a 15-year hiatus.
Band members and brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher made the news public on Tuesday, August 27, and announced a huge UK tour in 2025.
Both Liam, 51, and Noel, 57, shared the news on their social media sites, writing, “This is it, it’s happening.”
The brothers will perform a total of 4 concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium, as well as 4 in Manchester, in addition to dates in Scotland, Wales and Ireland next summer.
Oasis wrote on X, “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see it. This will not be televised.”
The relationship between the two brothers has been quite acrimonious over the years, leading many fans to believe a reunion is impossible.
Speculation that Oasis and the Gallaghers would reunite began after the brothers shared the news on social media over the weekend.
On Sunday, August 25, the siblings posted a video on X, with the date August 27 and the time 8 a.m. written in Oasis’ signature font.
Later that day, Liam, who is fond of posting about his sibling’s woes on X, wrote, “I never liked that word FORMER.”
Also on Sunday, the younger of the two Gallagher brothers dedicated a performance of Oasis’ track “Half the World Away” to Noel during the Reading Festival in England. The 11-second video he posted online played on a screen behind him as he sang.
Liam dedicated his song “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to Oasis’ detractors.
The teaser for a Liam and Noel reunion comes just a day after The Sunday Times published an article revealing that the brothers will be performing a series of concerts in the summer of 2025, including a 10-day run at London’s Wembley Stadium, and will be the headline act at next year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Liam responded to a thread on X about the article, writing: “See you next yaar big fanny kiss kiss x.”
The timing of the reunion announcement is notable. Oasis will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its debut album, “Definitely Maybe,” on Aug. 29.
Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis has always been centred around Liam and Noel, with other band members coming and going over the years. And from the band’s very beginning, the siblings have had disagreements with each other.
After years of controversy and gossip in the press, the group officially came to an end in 2009 when Noel announced he was leaving the band.
“It is with some sadness and great relief that I am leaving Oasis tonight,” Noel said in a statement at the time. “People will write and say whatever they want, but I couldn’t go on working with Liam for another day.”
Despite making public sarcastic comments about his brother over the past 15 years – including comments as recently as February 2024 – it seems Liam always believed Noel wanted to return to the band.
,[Noel]”He’s desperate to get Oasis back together, but he knows he’s crossed that bridge,” Liam told Q magazine in 2018.
They accused Noel’s ex-wife Sarah of preventing him from rejoining the group.
,[H]He’s not allowed to, his wife won’t allow him to now because she’s one too,” she said.
Noel and Sarah announced their separation in January.
“I know he wants to play in the stadium,” Liam said. “You can only play in the stadium if I’m there.”
