Marisa Tomei says watching Tom Holland and Zendaya ‘fall in love’ was her favorite part of ‘Spider-Man’

Marisa Tomei’s Spidey senses told her this romance was real.

The 59-year-old, who played Peter Parker’s Aunt May in “Spider-Man” ‘The Trilogy’ actress recently had a lot to say about her co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya.

“I think some of my favorite things were actually watching Tom and Zendaya grow up and watching them fall in love … and seeing their phenomenal talent,” Tommy shared during a panel at Fan Expo 2024 on Sunday.

“I’ve been really shocked from the start… I mean, I’m really shocked.”

But watching the couple weave their web of love on set wasn’t the only part that surprised her.

“Some people are just made for this, and They “They’re made for this,” the actress said of their talent. “They have huge star power and they manage to be real people at the same time.”

Holland, 28, plays Spidey and his other personality Peter Parker, while Zendaya, 27, plays the superhero’s girlfriend Michelle “MJ” Jones.

The trio starred in three MCU “Spider-Man” films, including: “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019), and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021).

The former “Uncharted” cast member was 21, while the “Euphoria” star was only 20 when the first film hit theaters.

Toomey praised Holland and Zendaya, saying, “They’re so versatile. They can do everything! They sing, dance, act, do stunts, fashion design. I mean, what aren’t they doing? They’re incredible, incredible people.”

Although the couple met on set in 2016, they didn’t confirm their relationship until 2021.

For the past several years, Zendaya and Holland have said they want to keep their love life out of the spotlight — no matter how difficult it can be to do so.

“I accept that parts of my life are going to be public. I can’t be a person and live my life and love the person that I love,” the Disney alum told Elle in 2023. “But at the same time, I have control over what I want to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be yours, but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. It’s not fun either. I’m dealing with it now more than ever.”

But that doesn’t stop Zendaya from giving her man a loving compliment from time to time.

“I don’t know. Riz is short for charisma, right? Everybody has their own,” Zendaya told BuzzFeed in February, when asked who among the “Dune: Part Two” cast had the best “Riz.”

“I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not in the ‘Dune’ cast, but who works for me personally, is Mr. Tom Holland.”

Meanwhile, Holland has also been vocal about his leading lady – both on-screen and in real life.

“I’m lucky to have someone like Zendaya in my life,” he said on the “Smartless” podcast in July 2023. “It’s interesting to be in a romantic relationship with someone who’s in the same situation as you. You can share your experiences and all that kind of stuff — and it’s worth its weight in gold.”
