Mark Wahlberg’s mother was ‘convinced’ George Clooney was ‘making advances’ on her on movie set: ‘He wants to go out with me’

George Clooney may be Mark Wahlberg’s stepfather, according to the “Lovely Bones” star’s mother.

During an interview with Variety published Wednesday, Wahlberg, 53, revealed that his mother became smitten with the charming actor Clooney after meeting him on the set of “The Perfect Storm” in 1999.

“My mother [Alma Wahlberg] “She came to the set and met George and took a picture, and he put it on his wall,” he recalled. “I think he liked that picture more than the picture of his kids.”

However, Markle said her mother felt the feelings between her and Clooney, 63, were mutual.

,[She was like,] “Oh, he likes me a lot. He loves me a lot. He told me he wanted to go out with me. I told him I couldn’t,” she mimicked her mother’s voice.

“But yes, she was sure he was trying to woo her. I said, ‘I don’t know about that, Mom.'”

Although the “Departed” star didn’t completely believe her mother, she still gave her mother the green light to pursue a relationship with her co-star.

“I said, ‘Come on, let’s make a baby out of this!'” she joked. “I want a little brother.”

“George could be my stepfather. That’s all fine,” he said.

However, the two never got together and Clooney married his current wife, Amal Clooney, in 2014. It’s unclear whether Alma remarried following her divorce from Mark’s father, Donald, in 1982.

Mark said the film was shot 20 years ago, yet he still remembers working with Clooney and director Wolfgang Petersen very well.

“It was a wonderful experience”, he said of the project, which was inspired by Sebastian Junger’s non-fiction novel of the same name.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Oscar nominee revealed that his father first came to visit him on set during the filming of “The Departed,” which was released in 2006.

“He came in the day I was shooting with Jack Nicholson. He wanted to meet Jack,” Mark recalled.

“My father loved cinema. He wasn’t impressed with any of my other work until I started acting and then with ‘The Departed’ he said, ‘Now you can call yourself an actor. I’m not impressed by the salary, I’m impressed by the acting.'”

Mark is the youngest of nine children of Donald and Alma. The head of the family died in 2008, while his mother passed away in 2021.

“My angel. Rest in peace,” Mark wrote on Instagram at the time, alongside a photo of his mother.
