Matthew Perry and Brooke Mueller’s relationship explained after ketamine investigation
Matthew Perry reportedly visited Brooke Mueller “a few times” in rehab — but their relationship extended beyond the confines of his treatment center.
Mueller recently found himself embroiled in the investigation into Perry’s October 2023 ketamine death and, according to US Weekly, the actress and “Friends” star frequently exchanged names of physicians with access to certain prescriptions.
“Matthew and Brooke have been sharing information about doctors for years,” a source told the magazine on Wednesday. “And it seems they are more lenient than others when it comes to medication.”
The insider claimed that Mueller “passed on names of potentially questionable doctors” to her, and added that she was nothing more than a “pawn” for Perry.
The source further alleged, “Usually it was Matthew who contacted her, not the other way around. It was a random text and FaceTime.”
According to the report, although Perry and Mueller’s relationship was friendly, they “did not go out for dinner or hang out.”
The insider added, “Matthew was her friend who asked her for help. And Matthew was ruthless. That’s how addicts are.”
According to the outlet, people in Perry’s life “tried to stop him from contacting Mueller,” but he became “isolated” from his loved ones, which led to his death.
Representatives for Mueller declined to comment.
The famous sitcom star was found dead in his jacuzzi last year. The post-mortem report revealed that he died from the “acute effects of ketamine” among other causes, and the cause of death was ruled an accident.
Earlier this month, federal agents arrested and charged five people in connection with Perry’s death: two doctors, her personal assistant, a drug dealer known as the “Ketamine Queen” and a male acquaintance.
Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, was tasked with finding ketamine for him and came into contact with Dr. Salvador Plascencia and Mark Chavez.
According to authorities, the two doctors drastically increased the price they charged Perry for the drugs, earning him $55,000 in just one month.
According to court documents, Plasencia once texted Chavez, “I wonder how much this idiot will pay.”
Plasencia also taught Iwamasa how to administer drugs to Perry — even though he was aware of the actor’s long history of drug addiction and medical conditions.
Police also issued a search warrant for Mueller’s home while she was in rehab for treatment of substance abuse problems. They confiscated her computer and phone.
Although he questioned Mueller about his relationship with Perry, he was never accused of any crime or wrongdoing.
Despite the ongoing legal investigation, Mueller celebrated his 47th birthday with his family earlier this week.
She posed for photos with her mother, Moira Fiore, and stepfather, John Fiore (who hosted the event at their Beverly Hills home), as well as her rare twin sons, Bob and Max, both 15 years old.
Mueller shares a teenage crush on her ex-husband Charlie Sheen, who did not attend the party. The former couple was married from 2008 to 2011.
