Meghan Markle ‘regrets’ royal family exit, her comments ‘backfired’: Expert
Meghan Markle regrets her dramatic exit from the royal family four years ago, according to a leading royal expert.
The Duchess of Sussex sensationally closed the doors on royal life with her husband Prince Harry in 2020, with the pair moving abroad causing a major rift between them.
“Meghan regrets some of the statements she has made,” royal expert and commentator Kinsey Schofield told Fox News. “The response to them has not been as great as she hoped and many of her comments have backfired.”
“She and Prince Harry deeply regret the royal racism controversy. Meghan wanted her interview with Oprah to speak about her mental health.”
He added, “And I think Meghan regrets sitting down with The Cut because they provided endless commentary to her critics.”
During the interview with Oprah, Markle and Harry said the royal family had raised concerns about the darkness of baby Archie’s skin.
These days, the former “Suits” star, 43, lives with Harry and their two kids in a palatial $14 million mansion in Montecito, California.
Apart from this, she is also building an impressive business portfolio, which already includes around 10 brands in which she has invested.
Recently, the former actress told the New York Times that she has invested in Sesta Collective — a female-founded handbag brand.
The investment comes in conjunction with Markle’s own business venture, a lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard, which she plans to launch later this year.
“I would describe Meghan’s personal life in California as isolated but orderly,” Schofield told the outlet. “Her ability to make friends is no secret… she generally gravitates toward people who can give her something, contribute to her personal goals.”
“She also needs trust and privacy. Her group of friends is small. She is friendly with the locals of Montecito because you never know someone’s connection or status. Everyone in Montecito has done something important that makes them call it home,” she added.
Still, Schofield alleges that while it may seem like the mother of two has resolved their dispute, the reality is different.
“Sightings of this pair are rare and progress is being made to confirm it [connections] “The connection to the Sussexes is mostly dismissed,” Schofield claimed.
“It’s important for Meghan to seem like she’s moved on and that this drama isn’t good for her. But that’s not the reality.”
“There’s still a discontent that fuels what he’s done over the last three and a half years,” he said.
Schofield, on the other hand, said she doesn’t expect Markle to return to Harry’s homeland in the near future — even though Harry made a surprise appearance there at his uncle’s funeral this week.
“Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK without meeting or acknowledging the royal family reminds the world of their isolation,” he said.
“It attracts hostile headlines. I think there’s a desire to win that audience back.” [in the UK]But Harry himself recently said that he does not feel safe bringing his wife back to his country.”
He added, “If American Riviera Orchards becomes a well-run machine and keeps Meghan busy, she will find happiness in that work.”
