Mindy Kaling tells Ben Affleck to ‘hang in there’ at DNC 2024 a day after Jennifer Lopez files for divorce
Mindy Kaling shows her support for Ben Affleck at the 2024 Democratic National Convention amid his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
The former “Office” actor gave a special tribute to his home state of Massachusetts while honoring his home state of Massachusetts on stage at Chicago’s United Center on Wednesday night.
“I can’t leave without thanking the amazing delegation from my home state of Massachusetts. I love you, Massachusetts!” Kaling, 45, said in his speech,
“Everyone always hates us! But they don’t get it! Go [Boston Red] Sox! Go Jayson Tatum! Ben Affleck, be patient!”
He also joked, referring to Affleck’s partnership with the brand, “Dunkin’ Donuts is the best coffee in the world!”
The “Mindy Project” star’s words of encouragement came one day after Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from the 52-year-old Oscar winner.
The “Jenny From the Block” singer filed the documents Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles without an attorney present.
According to the filing, the former couple separated on April 26.
A source told Page Six that J.Lo decided to call off her marriage on Aug. 20 — which would have been the second anniversary of her and Affleck’s Georgia wedding — to prove that she is “a woman who stands in her own way.”
Lopez and Affleck first married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and hosted a massive celebration with their friends and family at the “Gone Girl” star’s home in the Peach State a month later.
Sources also previously told Us that Affleck — who was previously engaged to the pop star in the early 2000s — held off on filing for divorce to avoid embarrassing Lopez after their second romance didn’t work out, leaving Lopez feeling “humiliated” and “disappointed.”
Despite keeping mum about their relationship status, the two sparked breakup rumors over the summer as the “Let’s Get Loud” singer vacationed alone in New York and Europe while Affleck remained in Los Angeles.
In July, he put his Beverly Hills, Calif., estate up for sale, as the “Good Will Hunting” actor acquired a new mansion in Pacific Palisades.
Lopez hasn’t been seen in public since Aug. 18, when she stepped out to get frozen drinks with her 16-year-old daughter Emme in Los Angeles.
As for Affleck, he appeared stressed as he smoked a cigarette on his way to work on Wednesday.
He returned on Tuesday after dropping his eldest daughter Violet off with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
