Nikki Garcia removes wedding ring while hosting ‘Chestnut vs. Kobayashi’ following Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest
Nikki Garcia made headlines once again following her husband Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest on domestic violence charges, but she didn’t have to wear her wedding ring.
The former WWE member took the stage for Netflix’s “Joey Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef” hot live dog eating competition in Las Vegas on Monday.
“I’m so happy to be here,” he said after being introduced by his co-host Rob Riggle.
The crowd was filled with supporters, one of whom yelled, “Love you, Nikki.”
“Oh, I love you, too,” Garcia, 40, responded with a smile.
The former professional wrestler wore a red vest and matching slacks for the event. She completed her glamorous look with a matching red lip.
Garcia appeared to be in good spirits despite her husband’s arrest on charges of bodily injury in Napa Valley, California, on Thursday.
Authorities did not reveal the identity of the victim, who has reportedly asked for “complete confidentiality.”
The 42-year-old “Dancing With the Stars” pro was released from jail on $25,000 bail just hours after he was taken into custody.
Prior to his arrest, Chigvintsev reportedly called first responders to his and Garcia’s home.
According to TMZ, the professional dancer initially called for medical help because he was afraid of the victim’s injuries, but later cancelled the call.
In 911 call audio obtained by the outlet, Chigvintsev told officers he allegedly had a fight with his wife.
“In the beginning it came like this [reporting party] Requested therapy but now he is saying he had a fight with his wife and his wife threw shoes at him [reporting party]” the dispatcher said.
According to the audio, there was “also a child at the scene,” though they did not confirm if it was the couple’s 4-year-old son, Mateo.
According to TMZ, the couple’s relationship has been “volatile” for some time, so the news of Chigvintsev’s arrest was “shocking, but not shocking.”
Following the incident, a ring-less Garcia was photographed smiling while boarding a private jet with his son in San Francisco on Saturday.
While she hasn’t said anything publicly about the incident, she has definitely made a statement by taking off her wedding ring.
Garcia and Chigvintsev tied the knot in August 2022 after meeting and pairing together during Season 25 of “DWTS” in 2019.
They celebrated their two wedding anniversaries on Aug. 26, just days before Chigvintsev’s arrest.
