Nikki Glaser to host 2025 Golden Globe Awards after viral Tom Brady roast
She is feeling golden.
Comedian Nikki Glaser will host the 82nd annual Golden Globes for 2025, CBS announced Wednesday. The announcement comes after Glaser’s career received new headlines following her hit set at the Netflix roast of Tom Brady on May 5.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights in television and now I’ll have a front row seat (actually, I think I’ll get to host from the stage),” Glaser, 40, said in the network’s press release announcing the news.
“The Golden Globes is a big night not just for TV and film, but for comedy as well. It’s one of the few times show business not only allows itself to be lovingly mocked, but encourages it (at least it feels that way to me). (God, it feels that way to me),” he added. “It’s an exciting, but challenging event because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who may also be drunk sitting next to their recent exes).”
After Netflix’s Brady special, Glaser, who was part of the lineup of comedians roasting the former quarterback, told Vanity Fair, “Tom Brady knows my name now. In his joke, he didn’t say it in full, but he said ‘Glaser.’ He said it right. I will never get this much attention until I die. I have an idea of what it feels like to be Taylor Swift on a very slow day.”
At the time, Glaser, who has been a professional comedian for more than 20 years, said, “I grew my career overnight like I never had before. That doesn’t happen today because the content is so saturated that everybody’s eyes are on this kind of stuff.”
Glaser quipped: “Apart from Will Smith slapping me in the face, I don’t think I’ll ever get this much attention as a comedian in my life.”
Glaser also said in his statement about the Golden Globes that some of his favorite jokes are taken from former hosts such as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler or Ricky Gervais.
“He said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear. I just hope to continue that longstanding tradition (which could also lead to me getting cancelled),” she added.
“It really is a dream job.”
He added, “Plus, now I don’t have to feel guilty about every TV show and movie I watched over the past year. It was all worth it. (“Below Deck: Sailing Yacht” Season 4 will get a nomination, right?).”
“Nikki Glaser is a comedian whose bold and frank humor is a perfect fit for the Golden Globes,” Golden Globes chairwoman Helen Hoehne said in a statement.
“She will definitely bring a unique energy and spontaneity to the show that will keep the audience entertained all night long,” he added.
The 2025 Golden Globes will air Sunday, January 5 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
