‘Pose’ actress Cecilia Gentili dies at 52: ‘A pillar in the trans community’
“Pose” star and transgender activist Cecilia Gentili died Tuesday at the age of 52.
The sad news was shared on the actress’ Instagram page – although the cause of her death has not yet been made public.
“Our beloved Cecilia Gentili passed away this morning so we can remember her in spirit,” the statement said.
βPlease be gentle with each other and love each other fiercely.β

“At this time, we are asking for privacy, time and space to grieve,” the statement concluded.
Shortly thereafter, LGBTQIA+ advocacy group GLAAD also announced the news on their Instagram, praising Gentili for her commitment to service to the trans community.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Cecilia Gentili,” they wrote. “Cecilia was a pillar in the trans community, a dedicated advocate, a brilliant actress on the hit TV program ‘Pose,’ an incredible journalist and a sex worker.”
He noted that Gentili “just celebrated his 52nd birthday, surrounded by friends, loved ones and the community.”
According to the nonprofit, Gentili worked with many different organizations, even founding Trans Equality Consulting and Decrim NY β “a coalition that works toward the criminalization, imprisonment, and decriminalization of sex workers.” doing.”

Following the news of her demise, many of her co-stars, including Dominic Jackson, paid emotional tributes to the late actress on social media.

Although an official memorial service for Gentili has not yet been announced, many of his fans gathered at a New York City church on Wednesday night to pay their respects to the artist.
