Prince Harry and Meghan Markle urge Americans to vote in 2024 election, ‘regardless of what political party someone belongs to’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle encouraged Americans to vote in the upcoming US presidential election.

In honor of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, staff at the couple’s Archewell Foundation wrote personalized letters to “support and empower” unregistered voters.

A statement shared on their website said, “Voting is not just a right; it is a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.”

“At the Archewell Foundation, we believe that civic engagement, regardless of political party, is at the heart of a more just and equitable world,” it adds. “By participating in initiatives like this, we aim to amplify the message that every voice matters.”

The Foundation used Vote Forward’s letter-writing tool for guidance and invited others to “get involved” [them] in this important endeavor.”

The statement concluded, “Let us work together to ensure that every eligible voter is informed and empowered to participate in shaping America’s future.”

Archewell also shared several photos of the hard work of its volunteers. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not photographed.

This isn’t the first time the couple has talked about the importance of voting. Ahead of the 2020 election, Harry, 40, and Markle, 43, shared a similar message during an ABC broadcast special.

“Every four years we’re told the same thing: This is the most important election of our lifetime,” Markle said in the video. “But it is an election.”

“When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard. Your voice reminds us that you matter, because you matter and you should be heard.”

Earlier that year, the former “Suits” cast member also reached out to American voters and urged them to vote.

Though the red-haired royal family member couldn’t vote in the 2020 election, she encouraged Americans to vote in a way that “rejects hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity.”

Although the couple has been very vocal about the importance of voting, they have never endorsed a presidential candidate.

However, ahead of the last election, Markle spoke out in support of Kamala Harris when she was announced as Joe Biden’s running mate.

At the time, the former actress told Gloria Steinem that she was “excited” to see Harris — who is of Jamaican and Indian descent — on the ballot.

“You know, for me, being biracial, growing up, whether it was a doll or a person in the office, you needed to see someone who looked like you in some way,” she explained.

“As many of us believe, you can only be what you can see. And in the absence of that, how can you aspire to more than what you see in your world? I think maybe now we’re starting to move in a different way.”

Jump forward four years, and now Harris is set to take on Donald Trump — a vocal critic of Harry and Markle — in the 2024 election.

While the former royals haven’t revealed who they’re voting for, several other celebrities — like Taylor Swift, George Clooney, Billie Eilish and more — have endorsed the vice president.
