The cause of death of Slash’s stepdaughter Lucie-Blue Knight revealed
The cause of death of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash’s stepdaughter Lucy-Blue Knight has been revealed.
The Post can exclusively report that the 25-year-old died of hydrogen sulfide poisoning. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thursday that her death was a suicide.
Hydrogen sulfide is a poisonous, flammable gas that can be toxic to humans. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, symptoms of acute exposure to the gas can include nausea, headache, delirium, disturbances in balance, tremors, convulsions and skin and eye irritation.
Excessive exposure can lead to rapid unconsciousness and death.
“Ms. Knight was found unconscious in a private residence by law enforcement during a welfare check on July 19. Death was pronounced at 1500,” the coroner’s office told the Post. “An examination was performed by a deputy medical examiner on July 22. The cause of death was certified on August 29.”
Knight’s cause of death was initially withheld because additional testing was needed.
Slash, aka Saul Hudson, 59, shared the news of Knight’s death on Instagram.
In his post, Slash described Knight as “an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”
He said he “passed away peacefully.”
The rock and roll legend considered Knight to be a half-sister to his biological children — sons London, 22, and Cash, 20.
Slash asked for “privacy” and said “social media speculation should be kept to a minimum” as he and his family “mourn and come to terms with this devastating loss.”
Knight was the daughter of Slash’s longtime partner Meagan Hodges and her ex-husband Mark Knight. Slash first dated Hodges in 1989 and then rekindled their relationship in 2015.
Hodges also posted a similar message to Slash on his Instagram account.
Hours before the news of Knight’s death was announced, Slash cancelled several dates on his Serpent Blues Music Tour, citing “unforeseen circumstances”.
Shows from July 22 to July 27 were affected, and ticket holders were guaranteed a refund.
The tour, in support of Slash’s solo album “Orgy of the Damned,” resumes Sunday, July 28 in Toronto.
“We love our fans and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Slash said in his statement.
Strangely, just hours after the rocker made this revelation, a post went live on Knight’s Instagram in which she was seen wearing glasses and looking away from the camera. It also included a cryptic caption.
“Whether I made you feel isolated, manipulated or controlled you, asked you to quit your job despite being financially supported by your parents, or drowned out real issues with toxic positivity — I’m sorry,” Knight wrote.
“Countless opportunities and connections missed due to an obnoxiously big ego, insecure heart and fear of being vulnerable,” she added. “May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job of becoming Lucy-Blue. Peace 🌷.”
A day after the post was uploaded, Hodges commented, “My baby girl 🕊️🤍 I love you with all my heart. I’m so sorry.”
Shortly after, Slash’s son London, who is married to his ex-wife Perla Ferrer, paid tribute to Knight through a post on Instagram.
“This is so sad. You will always be missed Lucy, I love you so much,” he wrote alongside several photos with Knight.
Her mother, Ferrar, commented, “There are no words for this loss baby. I’m so sorry for you all. Especially Lucy.”
“Let’s all learn from this experience, support and love each other,” she added. “At the end of the day, love and family is what matters most. I love you.”
Hodges also commented, writing, “This is so sad.” He added, “We will all get through this together. All of us.”
“I wrapped my arms around you and hugged you tightly,” she concluded.
