The Wolves of Glendale host a concert like you’ve never seen before

There is an old saying in showbiz.

Although its origins are unknown, entertainers have said for years that “comedians want to be rock stars and rock stars dream of becoming comedians.”

The Wolves of Glendale beat the system and decided to do both.

The three-person comedy music band – think The Strokes meets Zach Galifianakis – was formed in March 2022 and is currently making their most recent debut with hilarious yet catchy songs like “Wappin’ in Vegas,” “Just Give Me.” Released self-titled debut album. “Cash” and “Shrimp” at locations throughout North America.

This includes a show at the Mercury Lounge in New York City on Wednesday, February 21.

And, to put it mildly, their live shows are unlike any you’ve ever seen.

“We put on a show,” Wolves of Glendale singer Ethan Edenberg told the New York Post in an exclusive interview. “It’s more than a comedy show and it’s more than a concert.”

“There’s a narrative arc there that’s something you won’t get from seeing a band you like and we have legitimate, danceable rock tunes, which you won’t get from a stand up or sketch comedy show.”

In all shows, Edenberg and his fellow bandmates Tom McGovern and Eric Jackowitz improvise, tell scripted jokes and truly embrace the “live” aspect of a live concert.

“If there’s something weird or going wrong, we like that,” Edenberg said. “Secretly what we really want to do is make instantly funny songs about random things that happen around us.”

For example, the band recently headlined a venue that feeds artists. People ordered a whole nine BBQ chicken, ribs and brisket. Of course, he joked about the delicious food on stage.

“It was clear that everyone in the crowd loved ribs,” Edenberg said, laughing. “So we made them yell ‘ribs!’

Soon after, they saw a small child, perhaps eight or nine, standing on a table with his rib raised.

What happens next is what makes The Wolves of Glendale a magical show.

“We turned the music down and sang ‘This kid’s got ribs!'” Edenberg laughed. “When he ate them and caught the bone everyone cheered him on.”

Who knows what will happen at that Wolves of Glendale show you go to?

All we know is that the best way to find out is live.

About The Wolves of Glendale

The Wolves of Glendale are a three-piece comedy band – but they almost never made it.

“None of us thought the path for us was comedy music,” Edenberg explained. “We all wanted to play serious music. We were in a rock band.

However, Edenberg and Jackowitz turned to comedy music in 2016 when they started their LA-based group The Cooties.

They disbanded after five years.

Coincidentally, the pair ran into dueling pianist and talented comedy composer Tom McGovern while he was on his way to the City of Angels.

“We hung out and wrote ‘Wappin’ in Vegas and we were like ‘We got it.'”

Over their two-year run, the trio has often been compared to fellow comedy rockers Flight of the Conchords and Tenacious D.

Musically, they were inspired by contemporary rockers such as The Strokes, The Killers, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, as well as ’80s icons such as Hall & Oates, Phil Collins, Foreigner and The Alan Parsons Project.

New music from The Wolves of Glendale

On January 26, Wolves of Glendale released their 10-track debut album.

“I’ll try not to start crying, but this is a big deal for us,” Edenberg said. “This is the culmination of a lot of work and a dream for over a decade since Eric and I started playing together.”
