Travis Kelce explains Andy Reid-inspired training camp mustache: ‘Like a different kind of character’

We Mustache We spoke to Travis about his looks for the new season.

Travis Kelsey and his brother Jason Kelsey kicked off Season 3 of their “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday, and during the new episode, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gave listeners some insight into his training camp look.

“You’ve lost some facial hair,” Jason, 36, told his younger brother as they began discussing the Chiefs player’s time spent at training camp and how he doesn’t “care” what he looks like there.

“Yeah, I always do the Andy Reid special, baby,” Travis, 34, joked, referring to the legendary Chiefs coach and his famous mustache.

The three-time Super Bowl champion usually sports a full beard, but he shaved it off to sport a full mustache and a clean-shaven face like his coach.

Jason, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, praised his brother’s facial hair, saying, “It looks good. It looks neat.”

Although he ditched his beard, Travis went for a longer look when it came to his hairstyle, with the NFL star revealing that he “grew out his hair” in order to “look like a different character with a mustache.”

“I changed it up,” he said. “My hair isn’t cut. I’m not that much of a super trooper.”

At the end of the day, Travis — who just signed a $100 million-plus deal with Amazon for the podcast — said he was “just having some fun with it.”

“I don’t really care what I look like when I’m at training camp,” he said. “I just want to be out there and try to make it the most enjoyable experience ever.”

Speaking of enjoyable experiences, the Chiefs star and Kentucky Derby fan has another reason to attend the race.

On Tuesday, horse racing stable Team Valor International announced that Travis — who called his girlfriend Taylor Swift “the best artist out there” during the episode — had purchased a share of a racehorse named Swift Delivery.

As for whether his new mustache will bring him luck in the Derby, keep an eye on this one.
