Two men plead not guilty to murder of former ‘General Hospital’ actor Johnny Wactor

Two men accused of killing former “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles court on Thursday.

Robert Barcelue and Sergio Estrada, both 18 years old, entered pleas through attorneys to charges of murder, grand larceny and attempted robbery.

The third defendant, Frank Olano, 22, who was charged with being an accessory after the incident, has also pleaded not guilty.

A fourth defendant, Leonel Gutierrez, is charged with grand burglary and attempted robbery, but not Vactor’s murder, and is expected to plead guilty next month.

Emails sent to the L.A. County Public Defender’s Office seeking comment from attorneys for both sides were not immediately responded to.

On May 25, Vactor was shot and killed while trying to stop three thieves who were stealing a catalytic converter from his car.

The 37-year-old man had just left work at a rooftop bar in downtown Los Angeles with a co-worker when he noticed three men carjacking his car, police and prosecutors said.

Officials said one of them opened fire on him without provocation, killing him.

After a lengthy investigation, which included police requesting the public’s help, the four men were arrested on Aug. 15 and charged on Aug. 19.

The charges against Barceló include special circumstances, including murder and personal use of a firearm during an attempted robbery, which carry a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole after conviction.

The maximum sentence for Estrada’s charges is life imprisonment.
