Tyra Banks will return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway after 19 years
Tyra Banks is back in the race to become America’s next top Victoria’s Secret runway model.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel and “America’s Next Top Model” host will return to walk in the lingerie giant’s relaunched fashion show, which is set to take place Oct. 15 in New York City.
Banks, 50, and fellow Angel Gigi Hadid announced the news on Wednesday in a video on Instagram, which showed the 29-year-old walking through the lobby of a luxury hotel wearing a sparkling silver minidress.
Behind the front desk sat Banks, her back turned to show off her black silk letterman jacket that read, “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024.”
Hadid rang the bell, but Banks was busy sorting out invitations for the runway event.
When Hadid rang the bell for the second time, Banks flipped her long, caramel hair over and turned to face the blonde beauty.
At that moment Chapelle Roan’s “Femininomeno” began playing.
The “Tyra Banks Show” alum then flashed her signature “smile,” handed Hadid a golden envelope containing the coveted invitation and said, “See you there.”
Hadid was overjoyed and said, “Thank you” and “I love you,” and then walked away.
The snippet was captioned, “Sorry couldn’t write a caption, we were too busy watching @tyrabanks and @gigihadid hand out VSFS invites. You get the idea. #VSFashionShow.”
Banks — who walked in nine fashion shows during her tenure with the brand, the last in 2005 — commented, “We really need a feminine man! 💛,” with a second comment adding, “Tyra serving and delivering mail! Hey 👀💛.”
Hadid has walked in three shows for the company, not including last year’s “Victoria’s Secret: The Tour ’23.”
The annual catwalk event – which began in 1995 – was cancelled in 2019 amid criticism that Victoria’s Secret products and models were not inclusive enough.
However, the brand changed its format and returned in September 2023 with a reimagined Prime Video special featuring more diverse women wearing more stylish outfits in different cities around the world.
A company spokesperson told Page Six Style in May that the retailer’s return to a traditional format would “deliver exactly what our customers are demanding — glamour, runway, fashion, fun, feathers, entertainment — all through a powerful, modern lens that reflects who we are today.”
Banks and Hadid will be joined by Imaan Hammam, Candice Swanepoel, Grace Elizabeth, Devin Garcia, Paloma Elsesser, Taylor Hill and Mayowa Nicholas, among others.
