Why has Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce been ‘tough’ for Jennifer Garner’s boyfriend?
Jennifer Garner’s boyfriend John Miller reportedly struggled as he played the role of “marriage counselor” and “mediator” in Jennifer Lopez’s split from her ex-husband Ben Affleck.
“John doesn’t like sharing Jen, and they have differences when it comes to Jen and Ben,” a source told the Daily Mail on Thursday.
“He wishes it didn’t happen because he understands they’re family, but it bothers him just as much as it does anyone else.”
“John has no fears they’re getting back together — but his support for Ben during his split from J.Lo has been hard to accept.”
While the “Alias” alumnus and the Cali Group president are reportedly still together, the pair are actively working to get to a “better place” following her ex’s divorce story.
“John is waiting for Ben and J.Lo to split so he can focus on Jen,” the insider said.
“It’ll just take some time. They both want to be in a better place, but some work needs to be done.”
The source also told the outlet that the patience Miller showed in supporting Affleck made the 52-year-old “13 Going on 30” star fall even more in love with the businessman.
“The relationship between Ben and Jen is different, and while that bothers John, Jen loves the fact that it’s different because that’s what attracted her to John in the first place,” the insider explained.
Representatives for Garner and Miller did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Garner has been dating Miller since 2018. They have kept their relationship away from the spotlight.
She and Affleck, 52, were together from 2005 to 2015, though they didn’t finalize their divorce until 2018. They have three children: Violet, 18, and Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
The “Argo” star married Lopez in Las Vegas in July 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2021 following her split from retired baseball star Alex Rodriguez.
Though the “On the Floor” singer, 55, said in 2022 that she was sure she and Affleck had finally made it right 20 years after they first got engaged, rumors swirled in the spring that they were heading for divorce.
A source told US Weekly in May that Garner was “encouraging” Affleck to “work on his marriage” with Lopez.
The outlet later reported that Lopez found an “unexpected ally” in Garner because she could connect with him. They also said that Garner was “helpful” to the singer.
Garner was seen spending time with her ex-husband, and there were reports that she was helping her husband and Lopez with their marital problems, including on Father’s Day.
Despite Garner’s involvement, Lopez and Affleck could not save their marriage.
Lopez filed for divorce in Georgia on Tuesday, the second anniversary of their formal wedding, after spending the summer holidays — and her 55th birthday — without Affleck.
A person close to the “Maid in Manhattan” star told Page Six that she applied for the date to show that she is “a woman who doesn’t stand in her own way.”
In court documents, she filed a separation date of April 26 and did not seek spousal support.
He also requested that Affleck be denied spousal support.
