WWE Champions 2024: List of the promotion’s current titleholders including Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Liv Morgan

There are currently nine championships on WWE’s main roster. Four new champions were crowned at SummerSlam on August 3, setting the stage for the rest of 2024.

King and Queen of the Ring tournament winners Gunther and Nia Jax successfully challenged for the World Heavyweight and WWE Women’s titles respectively, while L.A. Knight and Braun Breaker became main roster champions for the first time.

The biggest story from SummerSlam was Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Siquoia, but it had less to do with the title and more with the implications. Roman Reigns returned for the first time since losing to Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, defeating Solo Siquoia to kick off a major Bloodline vs. Bloodline feud.

As 2024 approaches its halfway mark, take a look at who holds all the championships on the WWE main roster.

Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (defeated Roman Reigns on April 7, 2024)

Rhodes’ long journey to winning a championship that eluded his legendary wrestling family came to an end on the second night of WrestleMania 40 when he defeated Roman Reigns. Rhodes had lost to Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but he got his revenge a year later, breaking “Bloodline Rules” and ending Reigns’ 1,316 days as champion.

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (defeated Damian Priest on August 3, 2024)

Gunther’s impressive main roster run continues. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history capitalized on his victory in the King of the Ring tournament to challenge Priest for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam. Gunther’s victory is cut short due to Finn Balor betraying his Judgment Day leader Priest. “The Ring General” will nonetheless take his World Title to his old turf in Germany for WWE’s inaugural Bash in Berlin PPV.

Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (defeated Becky Lynch on May 25, 2024)

Morgan began her own “revenge tour” after suffering an injury at the hands of Rhea Ripley – she vowed to win the Women’s World Championship. After injuring Ripley in a backstage brawl, Morgan turned her attention to Becky Lynch after “The Man” won the vacant title in a battle royal. The two clashed at King and Queen of the Ring, with Morgan coming away with the win after some inadvertent interference from Dominik Mysterio. “Dirty Dom” arrived late in the match and slid a chair into the ring to aid Lynch, but Morgan instead DDTed Lynch onto the chair and hit her Oblivion finisher for the win.

WWE Women’s Championship: Nia Jax (defeated Bayley on August 3, 2024)

Jax is the WWE Women’s Champion for the second time in her nine-year professional wrestling career. Jax won the Queen of the Ring tournament in May and earned a title shot against Bayley at SummerSlam. Jax outlasted the underdog champion for most of the match. When Bayley finally gained the upper hand, Jax received crucial assistance from her new ally. Tiffany Stratton teased cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase, giving Jax the match-ending blow and making her the champion.

Intercontinental Championship: Braun Breaker (defeated Sami Zayn on August 3, 2024)

Breaker would not be given a second chance. The former NXT Champion failed to defeat Zayn for the Intercontinental title at Money in the Bank, but he defeated the fighting champion in a short rematch at SummerSlam. Breaker captured the Intercontinental title less than three months into his rookie main roster year by defeating Zayn with a pair of spears.

United States Championship: LA Knight (defeated Logan Paul on August 3, 2024)

It took Knight more than half his life but he finally became the WWE main roster champion. Knight defeated Logan Paul in a thrilling match to win the US Championship. Knight had a great year in 2023 but he was yet to win a main roster singles title in the 21 years of his pro wrestling career. Knight easily countered Paul’s buckshot lariat to score the pinfall.

World Tag Team Championship: JD McDonagh and Finn Balor (defeated The Awesome Truth on June 24, 2024)

Amid the turmoil of Judgment Day, which was caused primarily by Liv Morgan’s constant harassment of Dominik Mysterio, the group scored a big win. After being “saved” by Mysterio, Morgan helped save Judgment Day by manipulating R-Truth into giving McDonagh and Balor a title opportunity against Truth and The Miz. Morgan then distracted and attacked Truth, allowing McDonagh and Balor to win the titles on Raw.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga (won on August 2, 2024)

The Bloodline has struck gold once again. One thing that separated Sequoia and Reigns’ versions of the Bloodline in the past was the new group’s lack of titles. Fatu and Tonga solved that problem by defeating #DIY on the final SmackDown before SummerSlam to become WWE Tag Team Champions. The finishing sequence saw Fatu hit Johnny Gargano with a popup Samoan drop, a jump-up moonsault and an impaler DDT consecutively to end the match.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Isla Dawn and Alba Fair (defeated Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill on June 15, 2024)

While Clash at the Castle was a bad night for Piper Niven and Drew McIntyre in front of their hometown fans in Scotland, fans got a great moment for the locals when Dawn and Fyre emerged with the titles from a Triple Threat Match against the team of champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill and Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. Belair and Cargill secured the fall and fans got a great moment watching some locals capture main roster gold for the first time in their careers.
